War
Wojna
In a cacophonous eruption,
the realms of light and dark clash with one another. A jarring collision of gestural brushstrokes,
etches at the surface, and scraping of the canvas transforms the artist’s hand into the architect of war itself. Smoldering blacks and fiery reds consume the piece. The eye is forced to move from corner to corner as if watching the action unexpectedly unfold. We are consumed by the radiating heat of the siege.

Sunshine
65cmx90cm, acrylic on canvas
Textured ripples of paint stretch across the canvas. Each extension is a golden beam of sunlight reflecting and refracting as it travels across space to reach our eyes on the Earth’s surface. The skies above begin to appear as if they are cracked and fragmented. We are drawn closer, bringing our eyes up to the light. Upon a closer look, we see layers of paint form an intricate web of coarse lines pulling our attention from one section of the canvas to the next. Just as the sun illuminates the world around us, Eyerly’s Sunshine reveals the complexities of the sun itself.

Flow
Four distinct regions present themselves. Eyerly’s grounded earth-toned palette, orchestrating each of these regions of color, confront and blend with one another, creating an experience as if we are witnessing the erosion of the earth before our eyes. The flow she presents begins to mimic the convergence of a delta. A powerful body of water moves across the work. Uncontainable, it spills outward into a shallower state with countless smaller tributaries reaching for new territories. In a beautiful conjunction, we witness the natural flow that sustains life itself.
In an undulation of gold and brown tones, “Decadence” captures a world that looms between the exorbitant and the terrestrial. In each rolling form or expressive texture, the mixed media piece begins to resemble the unique topographies of the Earth, with mountain peaks and sprawling deltas. As the smooth and porous expanses of paint meld together, they allude to shadows and
depths unknown. The paint seems to grow, defying even the confines of the canvas until it eventually spills over its edges, encapsulating the piece in a swirl of glimmering bronze.

In a simultaneous display of grounding and excess, the decadence of our earthly endeavors is revealed. The shimmering golden pigments cannot help but transform the work into a field of this coveted mineral. As the artist mixes in more neutral colors with her signature gestural style, the elemental origins beneath the
surface begin to echo. At the center of the work, a bubbling rupture seems to have the paint billowing outward, an overflowing of this precious material ripe for our taking. Immersed in the luxurious flows of amber hues, we cannot help but tap into our internalized, suppressed, or overwhelming need for self-indulgences. Just as the lines of pleasure and extravagance blur as we give into the temptations within our lives, we become consumed within Eyerly’s land of decadence.

Beach
The abstraction of life itself takes form in “Beach”. The soft dense sand texture, granulated and etched
with lines, meets with the sea, beautiful tones of blue fading in and out as a wave of thick paint
prepares to crash at the water’s ed
ge. The painted layers mirror the natural glimmer of the sunlight
upon the oceanic surface, continually changing as the waves roll or the viewer moves around the piece.
The sand changes hue as if the water still lingers and remains with the push and pull of the tides. We
are mesmerized by the untethered nature of the sea.

Wooden Sea
Neither dripping nor bleeding down the edge of the canvas, an incredibly thick application of paint
forms a rippling surface that juxtaposes with the soft and delicate field of beige paint.
The intentionality to create these forms creates the appearance of barreling waves. Their color darkens as they retreat to the edges, much like the growing depths of the sea. While at first, we may think we are
staring overhead at the vastness of a landscape where land meets the water, the waves begin to
transform. Their edges now resemble a close look at the bark of a tree. Where we once stood far above
the Earth, we are now confronted with a sense of the terrestrial, a tree colliding with the openness of its surroundings.
