A testament to control, Line, embodies both precision and viscerality. Brushstrokes and lines pile atop one another. As one layer is applied the next seems to scratch away at the surface. The eye of the viewer begins to follow the action. Around and around in an endless loop, slash after slash. The perceived hostility of the gestures; however, is subverted through Eyerly’s manipulation of color. The shades of yellow and green shine and soften the piece, countering the inherent movement of the work with a sense of calm.
